Jean-Michel Wilmotte founded Wilmotte & Associés SA in Paris in 1975. Known for adapting to all scales of project, Wilmotte & Associés SA works in 4 fields: architecture, interior architecture, museography and urban planning.
A man of culture, Jean-Michel Wilmotte likes to point out that he has no specialties: he’s interested in all subjects, from the smallest – a handful of doors – to the most gigantic: rethinking the 260,000-hectare Greater Moscow area, for which he won the competition in September 2012, in association with French architect and urban planner Antoine Grumbach, and Russian architect Serguei Tkachenko.
Today, Agence Wilmotte is structured around two entities – the architectural firm Wilmotte & Associés SA and the design studio Wilmotte & Industries SAS, which simultaneously manage over a hundred projects. Renowned for the eclecticism of its output and the quality of finish of its projects, Wilmotte is present in the luxury, hotel and service sectors.
The agency employs 201 people of 20 different nationalities, and works in some twenty countries. Based in Paris and Nice, its international expansion has been accompanied by the creation of two subsidiaries: Wilmotte UK Ltd in London, and Wilmotte Italia Srl in Venice. The company also has offices in Seoul and Rio de Janeiro.
In 2005, he created the Wilmotte Foundation to raise awareness among young architects of the issues involved in conserving and rehabilitating old buildings.
